New And Exciting IKEA Products That Are Hitting The Shelves In August 2026

IKEA stays on trend even as its loyal base of customers evolve and their needs shift. Since 1943, this Swedish furniture company has strived to offer functional, well-designed products without the steep price tag. Over the years, we've seen a continuous stream of stylish IKEA items even HGTV stars love rotating through the store. It regularly releases new items in intentional collections for a specific style or customer need. And for August 2026, it's dropping the KOMPISHÄNG collection.

This collection includes 13 portable, minimalistic, multi-functional, cost-effective products. Think renter-friendly IKEA finds that are perfect for a small apartment. The idea was born from conversations with 20- to 28-year-old adults living in London. IKEA sought to understand what the day-to-day lives of the modern young adult and what types of items they might be craving. The answer? Savvy storage, purposeful furniture, and a collection of intentionally cultivated pieces they can bring from place to place without needing a car. There's an increasing emphasis on staying mobile while maintaining a deep sense of home in each new dwelling.

"We saw how carefully people chose the things they carried with them from place to place, and that insight shaped the collection," Dora Ding, Product Developer at IKEA of Sweden, shared in an IKEA news release. "We wanted the collection to be portable but still have a permanent look, people should feel settled and considered." Part of the magic of this collection comes from two designers at the helm, industrial design graduate students from Älmhult. These innovators were a part of IKEA's twice-yearly internship program. And they were also members of the target audience — young adults in their 20s.

KOMPISHÄNG isn't just another typical IKEA collection. It was thoughtfully designed for a specific purpose — helping young adults on the move plant roots where ever they go. The young designers encouraged a less vibrant color palette, arguing smaller spaces that 20-somethings are living in these days benefit from a more neutral color scheme. Previous collections from IKEA, even earlier in 2026, have injected plenty of color into their designs. KOMPISHÄNG will be breaking that mold to offer versatility. Expect to see plenty of pine woods and a more subdued beige palette with subtle splashes of deep red and green accent colors.

Pieces in the collection include a desk, mattress/pouffe, stools, side table, hanging wardrobe organizer, mirror, door hangers, back cushion, plant pot, bookend, and storage bag with wheels. Many of these pieces will require zero tools or complex assembly to use. The last thing you want to do when moving from apartment to apartment is fuss over building your furniture each time you're in a new space. It seems many items will be able to serve multiple purposes to make the most out of a smaller apartment, like the stackable stools that become tiered storage when not in use. Pieces in this collection will also include built-in handles for easy transportation. The name of the game is extremely mobile pieces of furniture – ideal for the young person with places to be.
