Use An Old Egg Carton To Transform A Plain Glass Jar Into The Cutest Fairy House Decor

Add House Digest on Google:

Empty egg cartons are usually disposed of right away. Rather than adding to your kitchen garbage pile, consider transforming the cardboard cartons into crafty home decor. That's right, you can actually turn an empty egg carton into an adorable decorative miniature fairy house. Along with the egg carton, all you'll need is a small glass jar, air-dry clay, adhesive primer, and paint. At this point, you may be wondering how these supplies could possibly come together to form a fairy house. The process for this egg carton repurposing project is pretty simple.

Just cut egg carton pieces into petal shapes and glue them together to form a flower head. You will place this over the top of the jar to mimic the whimsical roof of a fairy home. You can use clay to decorate the outside of the jar so that it looks like the exterior of the imaginary home. Feel free to add windows, a door, and other decorative elements to bring the craft to life. Paint the roof and exterior pieces in colors of your choosing. When you're done, you'll have the perfect decor for introducing a touch of magic to your living space. For another fun craft project, consider giving this unique egg carton decor DIY a try.

Create a fairy house with an empty egg carton and a glass jar

Although Instagram creator @mummy_and_my_three used tissue paper, glue, and corn flour to create clay for this project, you might find it easier to simply use air-dry clay. If you choose to go this route, you'll need to apply an adhesive primer to your glass jar as your first step. This will help your air-dry clay pieces stick to the outside of the glass. Applying the primer first ensures it has adequate time to dry. After the primer has fully dried, you can begin shaping your clay pieces and attaching them to the jar. Once the clay has dried completely, coat it with acrylic paint in your preferred colors. After the paint dries, seal it with a layer of Mod Podge.

Now, your fairy house needs a roof. This is where your empty egg carton will be put to use. You can use a pencil to trace the shapes of your flower petals and stem onto the carton to make it easier to cut the proper shapes out. Glue the pieces together and paint them when done. Feel free to add your own unique touches to the fairy house as well. You can even glue faux moss onto the outside of the jar to add to the woodsy fairy theme. The Byher Artificial Moss would be perfect for this. Attach small plastic butterflies, like the Qupiva Mini Resin Butterflies, to the outside of the jar with hot glue to add more charm to the craft. You can even turn this fun fairy house into decorative lighting by placing fairy lights inside of the jar. It will then double as a DIY nightlight for a bedroom.
