This 107-Year-Old Company Is America's Most Favorite Kitchen Appliance Brand
The kitchen is often one of the busiest rooms in the house, and it's filled with appliances designed to make everyday tasks a little easier. From refrigerators and dishwashers to air fryers and microwaves, there's no end to the number of kitchen appliances people can't seem to live without. Owning most, if not all, of these appliances is one thing; choosing models from the best kitchen appliance brands is another. And while newer names continue to enter the market with the latest technology, one legacy brand is still holding its own. According to 2026 data from YouGov.com, KitchenAid has been named the most popular kitchen appliance brand in America for the second year in a row. The recognizable brand has been making appliances for more than a century, proving that its long-standing presence in the industry hasn't faded.
The yearly survey measures the public's perception of different appliance brands. KitchenAid received a 71% popularity score, meaning 71% of those surveyed had a positive opinion of the brand. It also earned a 90% fame score, indicating that 90% of respondents had heard of KitchenAid. The brand ranked ahead of other notable appliance names in the popularity category, including Whirlpool (67%), Frigidaire (60%), Dyson (59%), and Maytag (55%).
What this popularity accolade means for the brand
The recognition is particularly notable given that KitchenAid has been in business since 1919. The brand is best known for its stand mixers, which isn't surprising considering it focused on the product line for decades after its inception. Vintage models are even considered thrifting treasures by collectors today. The company began branching beyond mixers in 1949 with the launch of its first home dishwasher. Today, KitchenAid's lineup includes both countertop devices and major kitchen appliances, including food processors, blenders, hand mixers, wall ovens, dishwashers, and ranges.
It's important to note that YouGov's popularity score reflects the general public's positive opinions of the brand and does not measure individual ratings of KitchenAid products or their performance. Still, the results show that KitchenAid remains well regarded among American consumers more than a century after its founding. One possible factor in the brand's longevity is that KitchenAid has largely maintained its identity despite Whirlpool's acquisition of the brand in 1985. Rather than completely reinventing KitchenAid, Whirlpool safeguards the trademark for KitchenAid's flagship mixer, which is undeniably responsible for the unwavering popularity of the brand.
