Not Snowflake: The Pyrex Pattern To Hunt For At The Thrift Store For Your Holiday Tablescape
There's nothing quite as festive as one or more vintage Pyrex dishes in the right designs to brighten up your holiday decor. In years gone by, you may have been hunting for the Pyrex snowflake pattern to dress up your holiday tablescape, but this year you might feel like a change. Instead of sticking with the snowflake motif, why not start searching for a different Pyrex design at the thrift store that's going to look absolutely gorgeous — the Pyrex Holiday Casserole pattern.
You probably already know that Pyrex is the vintage dishware brand you should always snag from thrift stores, and this design will work beautifully around the festive season. It was released in 1960 and was officially named the Holiday Casserole, as it appeared on a round casserole dish with a clear glass lid that had a knob top. Accompanying the orange-red dish with the memorable pattern was a carrying cradle. The design itself is white and in the form of a branch running along both sides of the dish with wispy pine needles and segmented pine cones. Like most of Corning's special holiday designs, this particular one was only available for a limited time, meaning that you can now only buy it secondhand.
How to use the Pyrex Holiday Casserole to spruce up your festive tablescape
When you're visiting thrift stores, whether locally or further afield, make sure you keep an eye out for one of these special dishes. You may just get lucky and score one at a bargain price. However, if luck isn't on your side, try perusing online marketplaces, like eBay or Etsy, where you're probably going to have to pay a bit more for it. While this is not one of the most valuable vintage Pyrex pieces, it's not uncommon for one of these to sell for between $40 and $50.
Once you have one of these festive casserole dishes in your possession, there are many ways you can use it to spruce up your holiday tablescape. Of course, you could just make use of its original purpose and serve something warm and delectable in it. Or, why not fill the dish with festive sweets or nuts and place it in the center of your table. Similarly, you could add some colored baubles and Christmas picks to add a bit of glamor. If you happen to have some of the other limited-edition Pyrex festive designs, why not line them up in the center of your table and add some battery-operated tealight candles as well as green pine boughs or holly branches for a truly memorable display.
