The Doctor Behind The Moderna Vaccine Just Bought A $8.1 Million NYC Duplex

The CSO of Moderna's New Lab Ventures and leader of the development of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, Dr. Eric Huang, has recently purchased an $8.1 million duplex in West Chelsea, the New York Post reported. Delos Capital said Dr. Huang was the CSO of New Lab Ventures while they were advancing their mRNA technology, which led to Dr. Huang being the leader during vaccine development. Dr. Huang's LinkedIn currently lists him as the CSO and general manager of Moderna Genomics (a unit focusing on gene editing).

The doctor behind the vaccine is also now in possession of a gorgeous New York duplex. Zillow listed the seventh-floor duplex as just over 3,500 square feet, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. The residence is accessed by a private elevator.

The New York Post says that the duplex's seller paid $8.81 million in 2018 when they purchased it and was asking for $8.5 million, meaning Dr. Huang saved a decent chunk of change on the property.

The swanky Soori High Line complex

Dr. Huang's swanky new residence is located in the West Chelsea condominium complex Soori High Line, designed by Singapore-based architect Soo K. Chan. This is the second of the Soori brand complexes, the first built in Bali. The complex's site describes itself as being "designed with the resort lifestyle in mind." They also state that owners are given the opportunity to commission SCDA architects to customize their homes. The "true urban oasis" offers a variety of amenities, including, but not limited to, a 24-hour gym, spa, steam room, and concierge services that provide spa appointments, floral arrangements, restaurant reservations, among other services.

Dr. Huang is living in one of the complex's pool residences, which provide their residents with private saltwater pools, with a "carefully choreographed array of lighting; casting a soft, warm ripple-effect on the timber silkscreened aluminum ceilings, further integrating the elements of water, light, and air into the residences." They come with bi-weekly pool maintenance, too. It is clear that Soori High Line residents live in an upper echelon of extreme luxury and comfort.

Inside Eric Huang's luxurious West Chelsea duplex

Dr. Huang will access his luxurious West Chelsea duplex via a private elevator that opens directly into the living room, which Zillow noted has a ceiling height of 18 feet with floor-to-ceiling windows providing a breathtaking view of the city. The living room has a modern fireplace feature and lit up built-in shelves along one wall. Multiple funky, modern light fixtures make the place truly unique. The private saltwater pool is accessed just off the living room, meaning you can come home from a long day and immediately take a refreshing swim.

The kitchen is any modern designer and chef's dream, featuring Italian designer kitchen brand Poliform-Varenna. All units in the building also feature Miele and Subzero appliances, offering the best of the best in cooking quality. Appliances include convection, speed, and steam ovens, warming drawers, wine coolers, and a vented hood.

The primary suite of the home is South facing, offering the best natural lighting possible. The suite has access to a private balcony. The en suite bathroom is very modern and features a large glass wall that overlooks the private pool. The suite also has a 15-foot deep walk-in closet.
