HGTV's 2023 Smart Home Is A Gorgeous Desert Getaway

If you've been waiting for the new HGTV Smart Home 2023 to be revealed, the anticipation is over! This new luxury home filled with the wizardry of smart technology is ready to be explored and enjoyed. HGTV chose Santa Fe, New Mexico as the home's location in order to take advantage of the beautiful views and moderate climate of this desert region. Professionally designed by host and Chicago-based designer Tiffany Brooks, the Southwestern-inspired home features three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a powder room, a rooftop deck, and an additional outdoor kitchen and living space with a cold-plunge pool nearby.

The home is built with a stucco exterior that will conserve energy by keeping the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and it is decorated with a combination of warm neutral colors and bold designs, such as the geometric tile in the kitchen that reaches from the floor to the ceiling. The matte black sink and deep green color of the ceiling provide a handsome contrast with the white kitchen cabinetry. A sliding window over the sink provides a pass-through to the outdoor living space, making it easy to hand dishes back and forth when entertaining a crowd. The kitchen also features a generous center island with a rounded edge, and open shelves set against the tiled wall highlight this handsome decorative feature.

Bold and luxurious

The kitchen leads to a multi-functional room where every household chore is accomplished in style. A laundry space with a front-loading washer and dryer is adjacent to a counter area with the same tile backsplash as the kitchen, creating continuity between the spaces. The counter area extends to include a chair and desk area, perfect for paying bills or working from home. The pegboard on the wall helps organize accessories without using up space on the desktop. With plenty of storage available in cabinets and drawers, this area can also be used as a craft room. Yet another tall cabinet houses large pull-out shelves for pantry storage. Finally, the mudroom offers a seating area with drawers, open shelves, and hooks to store coats and bags, keeping everything nicely organized.

Down the hall is the primary bedroom, where bold lines and Southwestern artwork combine with natural colors and textures to create a stylish and comfortable retreat. A patio with a separate seating area is located just beyond the sliding glass doors of the bedroom. Walk through the set of double doors that lead to the bathroom to discover a room filled with luxurious details. The deep soaking tub and enormous shower area are accentuated by the brass fixtures, adding to the indulgent atmosphere in the room. The rain shower head combines with a handheld sprayer and body sprayers to make this a shower experience like no other.

Smart technology

The primary bathroom is made more luxurious by the smart technology in the shower, where the water temperature and flow can be controlled by a touch screen. Plenty of other examples of smart technology can be found throughout the home as well. In the primary closet, a clothing care system functions like a private dry cleaner, removing wrinkles and freshening clothes as they pass through a steam system conveniently located near the bedroom. A smart wall display in the hallway offers online calendars as well as news and weather information, so the whole household can stay informed. In the kitchen, the touchscreen above the range makes it easy to prepare a meal from scratch with over 5,000 recipes to choose from, and cooking lessons can even be accessed immediately for additional instruction.

Perhaps one of the best features of the home is the mini elevator that connects the kitchen to the rooftop deck. This modern version of a dumbwaiter makes it simple to carry snacks and drinks to the lounge area above, where the views extend unobstructed over the desert and mountains in the distance. This level of technology is what makes the HGTV Smart Home 2023 special, because these conveniences allow you to spend more time with family and friends outdoors. Whether it's an evening gathering or a quiet morning alone with a cup of coffee, the amenities of this home will help create lasting memories in this beautiful part of New Mexico.
