The IKEA ALEX Drawer Organizer Hack That Is Practically Free

While drawer units like the IKEA ALEX system are extremely useful for organization, the drawers aren't always utilized to their highest capacity. When drawers are left unorganized and there's no rhyme or reason for how the contents are stored, they end up as a place for clutter to accumulate. A good way to address this problem is to organize the drawers by function and importance, then arrange the items by type. Drawer organizers can help with this, and you don't even have to buy new ones. Instead, just place your used tech gadget box lids in your IKEA ALEX drawers (or any other drawer system), fill them up with all your small belongings, and you're good to go. This hack could be used to separate items in your makeup room, office, bedroom, closet, bathroom, or really any other space in your house.

It's easy to just throw things into your drawers, but the downside is that you have to rummage through the items whenever you need something. This may take some time, leading to frustration. Get ahead of the stress by arranging your items in organizers and dividers. This is one of the best ways to organize your drawers because it helps you find things faster. You might also notice that you've reclaimed some drawer space, allowing you to place more belongings in each drawer.

Repurposing old gadget box lids

Old phone or tablet boxes and their lids are typically kept instead of being thrown away, perhaps for a few reasons. They are usually made out of a sturdy material that some may hope to one day reuse for a DIY project. Others may keep them around simply because they look nice, as the packaging is often sleek and minimalistic. Whatever the case may be, many of us aren't comfortable throwing these boxes away, but we also often don't know what to do with them. Luckily, this upcycling idea will solve this problem. In a TikTok by @jwday8, the user demonstrates how she organizes the inside of her IKEA ALEX drawers with iPad, iPhone, and AirPod lids. She arranges them inside the drawer to act as dividers, and they match the surface area almost perfectly. To do this in your IKEA ALEX drawer, place two tablet lids on one side, then arrange phone and headphone lids in the extra space.

However, if you don't have gadget boxes lying around, we suggest using any other hard gift box like the ones that jewelry, watches, wallets and fancy pens come in. Stick to the quality boxes because they will be more sturdy and last longer. The possibilities are endless when you use these as organizers. You can create sections for your makeup, jewelry, stationery, mail, cords, and anything else that you store in your drawers. Further, you can also add labels to upgrade your organization even more.
