TikTok Shares A Nifty Mason Jar Hack To Sprout Any Seed Fast

Growing a plant from seed can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience whether you're a gardening beginner or an expert. However, the process of a seed sprouting into a seedling can sometimes take up to a month. If you're the impatient type, this might have put you off wanting to try growing your own plant. Luckily, TikTok has come up with a handy way to speed up the speed germination process so you can see results faster.

This hack, which involves a surprising way to use hydrogen peroxide and a Mason jar, will make your seeds sprout into bloom quicker than ever. The best thing about starting seeds indoors, and this hack in general, is that you only need a very small space for them to grow successfully. Along with your seed of choice and the above-mentioned items, you'll also need a handful of soil and a shot glass or similar short glass to carry out this hack. In no time, you'll have a cute little seedling that will continue to grow.

Start your own seed garden in no time at all

The first step is to fill up a small bowl with hydrogen peroxide. Then, take the seed you want to sprout (making sure it has been washed if it's directly from a fruit or vegetable) and put it in the bowl. The seed should be fully submerged in the hydrogen peroxide and left to soak for half an hour or so. Next, take the shot glass and put some soil into it before adding the seed. Now it's time for the Mason jar. Place the shot glass on the lid of the jar and then cover the glass with the jar. Screw the lid back on and keep the jar upside down. Now, all that's left to do is watch your seed sprout! It should visibly sprout around a week in.

Once it has sprouted, the seedling will continue to grow. When it becomes too big for the Mason jar, simply remove it and transfer it to another pot where it can continue to grow and thrive. The reason seeds sprout faster using this method is likely due to the hydrogen peroxide, which will speed up the overall growth process and encourage your seeds to germinate faster. Note that this hack may only work with some seeds — we recommend trying it with a few different types to see which take well to this hack and which don't.
