Baskets can be expensive, especially beautifully woven and distinctive ones in larger or unusual sizes. If you have some extra delivery boxes leftover from Amazon and other retailers, you may be closer to a solution for gorgeous woven baskets for stylish storage on a budget than you know. Using ordinary cardboard boxes and packing materials, along with a little braiding technique and hot glue, you can make stunning matching baskets for next to nothing.
These baskets are perfect for storing a wide variety of items in a pretty container, especially in places like shelving units, bathrooms, kitchens, and closets, where you can never have enough baskets and containers for organizing. Making a box into a woven basket
To turn your cardboard delivery boxes into stylish baskets, begin by cutting away the lid segments. Flatten the kraft paper wrapping and cut into three long strips. Braid the three pieces together, then apply a line of hot glue to one side, wrapping it around the box exterior at the bottom. Continue with additional pieces, working upward until the entire box is covered. The result is a richly woven basket made out of paper that is perfect for holding a wide variety of items.
You can add other elements to these baskets to make them look even more high end, such as a cloth lining for the interior that takes them to the next level, which is ideal if the interior of the box will still be visible. Or line the inside of the box with some peel and stick paper in a pretty pattern. You could also use some scrap leather from an old belt or handbag to create some handles attached with more hot glue.
