Tissue boxes are often covered in bold colors that can easily clash with your home design scheme. As a result, some people choose to create DIY tissue box covers to hide them. However, you could upgrade your ugly tissue box with an aesthetic thrifted jar upcycling hack instead, for an outcome that's even more impressive. Just remove the tissues from their original packaging and slide them into a decorative ginger jar. This jar, which you should be able to purchase from a local thrift store or online marketplace, is the perfect size and shape to act as a tissue dispenser.

Feel free to purchase multiple jars to use as tissue holders all throughout your home. You should be able to find options with elegant designs that work well with your existing home decor. However, if you find plain ginger jars, keep in mind that you can also customize them to your liking. Ceramic paint pens make this easy. To really transform your jars, you may also want to glue on rhinestones or craft gems. This is just an overview of the many ways you could personalize your DIY tissue holders. When you're done with this hack, you can repurpose your tissue box into hidden drawer storage or a similar storage solution rather than tossing it into the trash.

Place your tissues into a ginger jar instead

Your first step in completing this hack is to hunt for the perfect ginger jars. You may be able to find pretty ginger jars at antique shops or thrift stores near you. Alternatively, you could also look for old vintage ginger jars on online marketplaces like Etsy. If you come across a plain jar you'd like to personalize, consider adding your own design. To keep things simple, you could place some of the stickers from the ChurlChurl Tattoo Stencil Kit onto the jar and color them in using the LMMINBZ Ceramics Pens. When done, remove the stencils to reveal your designs and bake the jar to set the color according to the pen instructions.

After you have your preferred ginger jar, remove your tissue from the original box all in one stack and fold the ends inward to form a roll of tissues as shown above. Slide that roll into your jar, and pull tissues from the middle when you need them. If you're unable to find a ginger jar to use for this hack, you don't have to miss out on upcycling to DIY a tissue dispenser. You can also use a Mason jar instead. Just decorate it and use the aforementioned folding technique to place your tissues inside of it. Place a cardboard circle the size of the jar opening on top, cut a hole in the middle to pull your tissues through, and screw on your jar lid ring.
