Reuse A Thrifted Teacup To Create Stunning Decor To Instantly Elevate Your Home

Your local thrift store's glassware aisle is likely overflowing with beautiful tea cups, including both newer and vintage drinkware pieces that sport beautiful floral designs and intricate porcelain curves. These cups can be a beautiful addition to your kitchen, for both serving tea and creating one of many cool DIY projects that repurpose old teacups around the house. One of the most stylish ways to incorporate teacups into your décor is to use them for ingenious DIYs that mix them with candles to create soft and romantic lighting. These projects, which involve everything from using the cup as a container for a homemade candle to creating a beautiful teacup candle chandelier, are perfect for cottage-style spaces with romantic floral touches.

Teacups, some with saucers, some without, can usually be found for a steal at thrift stores. Most will cost you a dollar or less, which means you can amass quite a collection for beautiful ways to decorate your home with candles. Most projects involve real candles, but you can swap them out for LED and battery-operated taper, votive, and pillar candles if desired.

Using old teacups with candles

A simple way to use old teacups to create beautiful candle décor is to make handmade candles inside of old teacups. Add a wick in the center bottom of the cup and pour in melted soy, paraffin, or beeswax. In a few hours, you will have a solid candle. You can use an adhesive like hot glue or E6000 to adhere the cup to the saucer to serve as the base. Since not all teacups are heat safe for flames, however, keep an eye on the candle when burning to make sure it doesn't break or crack. Use these stunning container candles on a dresser, coffee table, or shelf. Or give them as unique handmade gifts.

You can also create gorgeous pillar candle holders by attaching the saucer to the top of the teacup with a line of E6000. When it's dry, rest a real or faux pillar candle on top. Invert the cup underneath for a slightly different look. These elevated candles make perfect additions to centerpieces, allowing you to create raised levels. Or, you can use a teacup for a taper candle holder by adding a small dab of hot wax in the bottom and holding the candle in place until it stands upright alone.

For a more advanced project, create a teacup candle chandelier by affixing teacups on an upcycled fixture and inserting real or faux votive candles or tea lights. Or use an existing pillar candelabra for teacup candles for adorable outdoor décor for your garden.
