Costco offers both riding and walk-behind mowers. Many of the retailer's mowers are available online only, meaning Costco will deliver them to your home while also offering packaging removal and assembly. If you want to save even more, some of the retailer's lawn mowers offer a limited-time instant savings that knocks $100 or more off the price. You will also find a few products that fit under the Costco Direct program, where you can save a little more by purchasing two or more big-ticket items at the same time. We took a look at customer reviews on the Costco website to find the top-rated lawn mowers and to learn why customers love them. By sticking with highly rated products, you hopefully can avoid mistakes everyone makes when buying a lawn mower.

That's one reason why the Greenworks 80V 42-Inch Zero Turn Mower from Costco ($4,500) is so popular, as it ships with 12 4Ah batteries and three chargers. You can run the machine with six batteries and have six in reserve for longer jobs. "Getting two full sets of batteries was a big selling point to me," one Costco reviewer says. "It runs quietly and efficiently with excelling (sic) cutting ability." On the Costco website, 81% of customers give the mower 4- or 5-star reviews. It offers a 32-horsepower engine and a cutting speed up to 8 mph. "It is quick driving in high speed," another Costco reviewer says. "[The] seat is comfortable, and six batteries last on a three-acre lot."

For a slightly cheaper riding mower, Costco offers the highly rated Yardforce 56V Battery-Powered Riding Mower ($3,500). It has a built-in battery that you charge by connecting the unit's USB charging port with a wall outlet. The manufacturer says you can cut 2.5 acres of grass on a single charge. "I mowed my yard and neighbor's yard and only used 25% of the battery," according to one Costco reviewer. "That was about 2/3-to-1/2-acre overall." About 71.5% of Costco online reviewers give it 4 or 5 stars. "We've had this mower for about a month now, and it has made yard work a breeze," one Costco reviewer says.

Costco offers popular battery-powered walk-behind lawn mowers, too. The Greenworks 80V 21-Inch Gen 2 Self-Propelled Mower ($530) has a 4.4-star rating at Costco. This kit ships with two batteries that fit the dual-port system in the unit. They provide up to 65 minutes of run time. "I was hesitant to buy a battery-powered mower since I've always used gas," one Costco reviewer says. "[I] have been very impressed. It cuts very well, is quiet, easy to start, and lightweight." It has a four-in-one cutting deck for bagging, mulching, side discharge, or turbo mode. The unit is powerful enough for almost any type of grass, according to another Costco reviewer. "This mower is surpassing my expectations. It moves well over rough ground and through fairly dense, tall grass."

For those who want a larger deck to cut down on mowing time, Costco offers the Greenworks 80V 25-Inch Self-Propelled Mower ($700). "This mower has cut my workload down a lot," one Costco reviewer says. "The 25-inch cut is awesome. [The mower] takes up less room in my garage than my gas-powered mower did. The batteries charge very fast." It has a 4.2-star customer rating at Costco and ships with two batteries. The self-propelled feature is powerful enough to handle hills, according to one Costco reviewer. "My yard is on a rather steep hill, and the mower has no problems with the slope."
