DIY A Gorgeous Flower Arrangement With A Bottle Of Wine

Georgeous centerpieces and celebratory occasions often require a marriage of good wine and beautiful blooms. A recent trend of fun DIYs combines these two things expertly to create gorgeous arrangements that have both utility and style. All you need to make them is a glass bottle, loose flowers and greenery, a block of floral foam, and some ribbon. The result is a stunning floral arrangement that still allows you to access the bottle if full, making it both a pretty centerpiece and a fun gift to give.

You can use real or faux flowers and greenery for this project. For real flowers, you can help them stay pretty longer by using a dampened reservoir foam instead of dry foam. Any bottle will work, empty or full, so you can create this arrangement with champagne or other bottles of spirits. You can even use it as a clever way to upcycle your empty wine bottles from the recycling bin. For a stylish centerpiece, line up several bottle arrangements in an array of sizes and shapes for varying levels.

Making a wine bottle floral arrangement

To create this festive arrangement, turn a full or empty wine bottle on its end and press the cork end into a block of square floral foam until it punches through. If the bottle is recycled and empty, you may need to weigh down the bottom by refilling it with water. Or use sand, glass beads, or pea gravel to add some stability so it won't tip. Assemble your flowers and greenery in the foam, working your way around until it's completely covered. For a no-rules floral arrangement that will make a perfect centerpiece for all occasions, add elements like small sticks, seed pods, and feathers to create texture and variation. For a fun nature-themed holiday centerpiece, use berries and evergreen sprigs atop a bottle wrapped in burlap ribbon. Or, for the 4th of July, add red, white, and blue carnations mixed with foil streamer picks that look like fireworks.

You can also customize the bottom itself with paint, stencils, etching powder, or paint to create designs or messages on the glass. As a final touch, add some ribbon, twine, lace, and other accents wrapped around it. If you use an empty bottle, you can also add battery-operated twinkle lights inside for a soft glow over your table. If you are giving the arrangement as a gift and do not want to fully cover the top in flowers, you can make a simpler version by attaching a small bit of foam to a ribbon wrapped around the neck of the bottle to create a corsage-like arrangement on one side.
