Valspar's 2026 Color Of The Year Is Calming, Cozy, And Perfect For Any Room
Valspar's 2026 Color of the Year has been revealed, and it's a big departure from the bold blue which dominated last year's top spot. This year's color — Warm Eucalyptus — is a gentle green hue, chosen for its calming quality as an ode to mindful living. With its soft, earthy tone and subtle vintage vibe, Warm Eucalyptus is a great green color to make your home feel calming.
"Warm Eucalyptus is more than just a beautiful shade of green, it's a reflection of the comfort we crave in our homes," says Sue Kim, director of color marketing at Valspar, in a press release. "Its warm undertones create a grounded, welcoming mood while drawing inspiration from nature and the familiarity of retro design. This is a color that encourages restoration and resilience."
When choosing paints to pair with this serene shade, other nature-inspired hues will work well. Warm Eucalyptus is a medium- to medium-dark color. A lighter color that acts as a great complement to Warm Eucalyptus is Valspar's Degas Blue, which is a subtle blue with hints of warm green and gray. To achieve more contrast with a bolder hue, consider Groundbreaking, which is dark brown with gray undertones. When used with Warm Eucalyptus, Valspar says, these colors "bridge the natural world from ground to sky."
Warm Eucalyptus' vintage vibe matches mid-century modern style
There are many ways to add cozy charm to your home with this neutral paint shade. Because of its versatility and retro vibes, Warm Eucalyptus works great on interior walls, and it is a particularly great paint shade for a mid-century modern style. It also works well on cabinetry, accent walls, home exteriors, or even to give individual furniture pieces a pretty pop of color. For outdoor use — whether on a home's exterior or outside furniture — a solid stain can be tinted to match the shade.
To further complement the shade through decor, blending in organic elements such as wood and ceramics will help make the space feel even more cohesive. On selecting the 2026 Color of the Year, Valspar's Sue Kim told Coatings World, "Valspar's team of color, design and style experts draw from research and observations surrounding global lifestyle trends across culture, media, fashion, design, technology and even food to help choose the color that best represents what is to come." In its press release, the company noted that consumers have been exhibiting a desire for "nostalgic joy and comfort" in their homes, and Warm Eucalyptus hits the spot.
