This Budget-Friendly DIY Vase Looks Luxe, But Uses Only Dollar Tree Items

Finding home decor while sticking to a small budget is a difficult task, especially when your style leans more glamorous and luxurious than minimalist or vintage. If you are trying to create the glam room of your dreams, then statement pieces like large vases might be on your radar. A large vase can be a gorgeous focal point in a room, but it can also be a very expensive piece of home decor. A large matte white vase with a bit of texture, for example, can cost hundreds of dollars or more. If you want to get the look of a high-end vase without overspending, then this budget-friendly DIY luxe vase created with Dollar Tree materials is perfect for you. The DIY process is simple, and the result is a stunning vase that looks like it could be a dupe for an expensive brand.

For this project, you will need two clear glass bowls, such as these 6-inch bowls from Dollar Tree, super glue, and a textured tumbler cup, which can also be purchased at Dollar Tree. You will also need some lightweight spackling and spray paint, and you may want additional decorative details, like gemstones or trim, to complete the look. To put it together, start by gluing the two bowls together to create a sphere-like shape. Next, you will glue the bottom of your textured tumbler to the bottom of one of the bowls. The flat bottom of one bowl should be the base, and the opening of the cup should be at the top of the stack.

Customizing your DIY vase

The super glue should be left undisturbed for at least 10 minutes as it sets and left alone for 24 hours if you want it to fully cure. Once the glue is set, you can begin perfecting and customizing your vase. Add lightweight spackling to the gaps where the items are glued together for a more seamless look. Apply the spackling in thin layers, allowing it to dry between layers for the smoothest possible finish. After your final layer, sand the spackling until it is smooth and wipe away any debris. Then, you can move on to painting.

When you spray paint, cover the entire exterior, but try to only spray paint the areas inside that will be above the water line if you plan to put live plants inside. If you know you will use artificial plants only, you can spray paint the inside and check out the game-changing tricks that make artificial flowers look so real. When you are satisfied with your paint coverage, remember to add a coat of clear acrylic sealer to protect your project and keep it looking premium for longer.

When it comes to color, black, white, and metallics can all fit well in the best color palette for a glam home decor aesthetic, and a matte finish will add to the high-end look. Combining these with gemstones or other metallic details can also add to a glamorous style. Strategically placing ribbon, rhinestones, or other details can help hide any evidence of the vase being a DIY project and give you the opportunity to create a truly custom piece.
