Combine these two annual events with a budget-friendly Thanksgiving decor DIY from Dollar Tree, as seen in a TikTok video from creator @makingfrugalfun. You can construct a fun, festive runner-style centerpiece with just a few Dollar Tree finds. When you get to Dollar Tree, fill your cart with a pool noodle, zip ties, brown paint, three Long Stem Wine Glasses, and plenty of faux flowers and foliage in autumnal colors. For die-hard NFL fans, show some extra love by grabbing a few flowers or ribbons in your favorite team's colors. Create the football stitching on the glasses with Dollar Tree's #Be3D Fabric Paint in white, or pick up some thin white washi tape from a craft store. While you're there, you may also need brown paint that's better suited for glass than what Dollar Tree sells. Its tempera or kids' paint won't give your football goblets a permanent finish, but it is great for a temporary tint if you want to clean and reuse the glasses later.

Paint your football glasses

Before you start painting, give your glasses a good washing with soap and water and a wipe-down with vinegar (this will remove extra grime and grease, which is why vinegar is a secret weapon for painting glass). A coat or two of glossy spray paint should do the trick, but if you're brushing on the tint, wipe the interior with vinegar first, then paint the inner surface for a glossy finish free of brush strokes. If you go the brush-painting route, wait 24 hours before giving the glasses a second coat.

Add the stitching detail to the bowl of each glass with the help of a straight edge (a bit of painter's tape is a safe way to apply a guide to the surface). Start the vertical line about ½ an inch below the lip of each glass. Where and how the line ends doesn't really matter, since you can cover it with the floral accents. Immediately after painting, peel the tape away before the color dries. From there, fill in the line and free-hand paint four or five additional, horizontal "stitch" lines, each about 1 inch long.

If you prefer washi tape "stitching," prepare the tape beforehand so you can trim its edges and ensure that all of the stitches are a uniform size. Follow the same length guidelines with the tape as you would for painted detailing.

Assemble a Thanksgiving centerpiece with team spirit

To construct your centerpiece, gather up your pool noodle and zip ties. Bend the noodle in half at its midpoint, and set the bases of the three glasses between the two noodle halves. Apply zip ties around the pool noodle on both sides of each glass, as well as anywhere else that looks like it needs more cinching. The plastic or wire stems of faux flowers and leaves are perfect for sliding into a pool noodle, just like with floral foam. Poke flowers and foliage stems into the noodle until it's no longer visible. You may be able to find themed rolls of ribbon for your team that you can tie in a bow around each glass, just above the flowers, to give your Thanksgiving decor an extra pop.

If you've found waterproof, floating LED tea lights, fill each glass with water and set the lights afloat. Avoid setting candles with actual flames inside the glasses, as the heat may crack the glass. Since Dollar Tree's LED tea lights aren't waterproof, you can instead fill the glasses with unpopped popcorn (Dollar Tree stores often stock Jolly Time Yellow Popcorn Kernels). This seasonal filling will give the LED candles a boost without damaging the candles or glasses. Place your creation at the center of your dining table to illuminate the meal. Then, get extra enjoyment out of your centerpiece by moving it to the living room during the big game.
