Deciding Between A Blue & Green Kitchen? This Color Trend Doesn't Make You Choose

If you've been keeping up with paint color trends over the last few years, you'd know that green and blue shades have been having a major moment — especially in the kitchen. Both bring their own set of benefits to the table, with grounding green hues offering a fresh, organic, and nurturing feel, and soothing blues lending a calm, relaxing presence. Not to mention, they both look great as cabinet colors, wall colors, backsplash colors, or subtle accent tones. If you're getting ready for a kitchen redesign and have been torn between the two, you might just be in luck. The upcoming 2026 design trends are leaning heavily into blue-green tones in kitchen spaces — meaning you don't actually have to choose at all.

According to interior design expert Carlos Nyce, blue-toned greens are set to rise in popularity next year thanks to their ties to nature and their undeniable grounding effects. In a recent interview with Homes & Gardens, he explained that "blue-greens, teals, and emerald-adjacent hues are emerging as new favorites," as are blue-toned shades of lichen and eucalyptus. It's not a huge surprise to see these blue-toned greens gaining momentum, though. After all, they've been making a major comeback in 2025 as an earthy design trend. And back in the fall of 2024, trend forecasting agency WGSN previously predicted that Transformative Teal — a "fluid fusion between dependable dark blue and aquatic green," as they described it — would be The Color of the Year for 2026.

How to incorporate blue-toned greens into your kitchen

When it comes to styling blue-toned greens in kitchens, the choice is entirely yours — whether you want to go for a vibrant, deep hue or a more muted, softly saturated shade. As Carlos Nyce explained to Homes & Gardens, "deeper palettes will create a rich, grounding effect" while saturated colors "add depth and character, especially when paired with soft neutrals such as warm off-whites, beige-taupes, or creamy tones." Dusty pink is another color that perfectly complements teal decor, especially if you're aiming for a more romantic, feminine look.

Luckily, there are plenty of shades to explore, whether you're planning to paint your walls or give your cabinets a pop of blue-green color. Benjamin Moore's Fort Pierce Green and Sherwin-Williams' Studio Blue Green, for example, would look gorgeous on cabinetry, while Benjamin Moore's Mount Saint Anne would add a soft yet sophisticated touch to kitchen walls. Bonus points if you pair the latter with wood accents like open shelving, natural cabinets, or butcher-block countertops.

If you want to incorporate a blue-toned green into your kitchen through your backsplash, consider a glossy teal backsplash — perhaps even laid in a herringbone pattern, which can actually make your tile look more expensive than it is. Of course, if you're not gearing up for a full kitchen redesign but still want to dip your toes into the trend, you can easily weave the color into your space with smaller accents. Think tableware, kitchenware, wall art, or decor pieces such as vases, pitchers, or fruit bowls in blue-green shades.
