12 Insane Houses Owned By Football Royalty You Have To See To Believe

It's no secret that the highest paid football players bank multi-million dollar salaries per year (Patrick Mahome's 10-year contract currently holds the record, clocking in at $503 million). To say they have serious money to burn when out and about property shopping for their "home base", is an understatement. The pads that football royalty pick up aren't just jaw-dropping in size, they also boast crazy long amenity lists and are typically nestled in prime locations.

Since NFL players live throughout the country for their jobs, you can glean insight into the architectural styles of various regions by looking at their homes. In California, stucco siding and barrel-tiled roofs are common, while in Texas, homes take more of a modern farmhouse aesthetic. In Miami, it's essential to be close to the water, even if you have to build a swimming pool. Football players also seem to prioritize recreational space where they can spend time with family, as they tend to be on the road for a big chunk of the year. In no particular order, here are some of the most exceptional homes owned by football royalty.

Russell Wilson and Ciara's Del Rayo Estates home

Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara are one of those unique power couples that exist in the realms of professional athletics and popular music. Wilson has played 14 NFL seasons, which have included two Super Bowl appearances and one win with the Seattle Seahawks. Ciara is a Grammy Award-winning recording artist who has sold over 23 million records in genres like R&B, pop, and hip hop. The couple has invested in various high-end properties across the country, but the most extravagant has to be their Rancho Santa Fe, California, estate, which they just put on the market for $54.9 million.

The Wilsons purchased the property in 2021 for $14.5 million. The 30,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion has nine bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. The 9-acre estate also has a full-sized football field, a home theater, a pool, a waterslide, and a 3,800-square-foot fitness center. The mansion is also equipped with a recording studio, where Ciara can make music. The luxury property is located in Del Rayo Estates, a gated community with mountain views and access to the exclusive Del Mar Country Club.

Deion Sanders' Texas megamansion

Deion Sanders is a singular athlete in NFL history. He played 14 seasons as a cornerback in the NFL, winning Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys and being named Defensive Player of the Year in 1994. He also played as an outfielder in the MLB for nine seasons, batting .533 in the 1992 World Series. He started his college football coaching career at Jackson State University in 2020 before moving on to the University of Colorado in 2023. Sanders has amassed a fortune over the course of his storied career, and he has used it to purchase lavish properties, including a 29,229-square-foot mansion in Prosper, Texas.

In 1999, while he was playing for the Cowboys, Sanders commissioned the custom-built home, which includes nine bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The house also has an indoor pool, a sauna, a bowling alley, a movie theater, a barbershop, an indoor basketball court, and a gym. There is also a 14-bay garage to hold luxury vehicles. The 5.95-acre estate spans across a stunning green space and overlooks a pond. Sanders sold the estate in 2014, and it was placed on the market again in 2017 with a $14.5 million listing price.

Clay Matthews' Calabasas mansion

After 11 seasons in the NFL, Clay Matthews III retired from the league in 2019. The star linebacker spent most of his time in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, playing an important role in the team's Super Bowl XLV victory. With 83.5 sacks, he holds the Packers' all-time sack record. Clay Matthews married HGTV star Casey Noble in 2015, and the couple commissioned the construction of a seven-bedroom Calabasas mansion soon after.

Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, the 14,021-square-foot French Provincial-style home offers a distinct interior design in Noble-Matthews' trademark style. The billiards room has a white marble fireplace, a gable ceiling, dark blue walls, and an antler chandelier. The wood-paneled home office has a bookshelf with a sliding ladder and an in-wall aquarium. The basement has a wine cellar and a 15-seat cinema. In the backyard, a cabana bar overlooks the swimming pool. There is also an outdoor TV space connected to a dining area. The couple sold the home for $20 million in late 2022.

Tyreek Hill's $6.9 million mansion

Tyreek Hill began his NFL career in 2016 when the Kansas City Chiefs signed him as a fifth-round draft pick. In 2020, the wide receiver helped take his team to victory at Super Bowl LIV with over 100 receiving yards. The following year, the Chiefs returned to the Super Bowl to face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but failed to secure a win. Hill left the Chiefs in March of 2022, signing with the Miami Dolphins for a $90 million contract over three years. A few months later, Hill purchased a $6.9 million mansion in Southwest Ranches, Florida, about 22 miles northwest of Miami.

The 9,326-square-foot home has a white stucco exterior with Corinthian columns. It has seven bedrooms, a podcasting studio, a small movie theater, a gym, and a billiards room. Outside the home, there are plenty of recreational options, including a pool, a basketball court, a spa, a putting green, and two guest houses. Fire damaged the home in January 2024, and later that year, Hill put it on the market for $9.6 million.

Saquon Barkley's Pennsylvania mansion

The New York Giants drafted Saquon Barkley in the second round in 2018, and he was later elected Offensive Rookie of the Year. Ever since, he has been one of the more dominant running backs in the league. For instance, in 2024, while playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, he scored over 2,000 rushing yards and helped his team secure victory at Super Bowl LIX. After joining the Eagles roster, he bought a $3.9 million mansion in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

The 10,025-square-foot provincial-style home was built in 2017 and has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The design strives for function and comfort. The living room has a gas fireplace and a gable ceiling. There is also an industrial-style office with wood-panel ceilings and film set lighting. The primary bedroom has a balcony overlooking a large green space. When Barkley needs to work out, there is an indoor gym. There is also a basketball court designed with the yellow and purple Lakers colors in honor of Barkley's hero, Kobe Bryant.

Patrick Mahomes' Missouri estate

For several years, the NFL has been in its Chiefs era, and no one has been more integral to that success than quarterback Patrick Mahomes. With only nine seasons under his belt, he has led the Chiefs to five Super Bowls, taking home three NFL championship titles. In 2020, Mahomes signed a $450 million contract to stay with the Chiefs until 2031. This has allowed him to purchase several properties, including a lot listed for $400,000 in Belton, Missouri, where he has built his own mansion.

The 8-acre property has more than enough room for a 50-acre football field, a pond, and a par-3 golf hole — all of which Mahomes added after making the purchase in September 2020. Just adjacent to the house, there is a pool with a water slide. With a vinyl exterior and floor-to-ceiling windows, this contemporary home offers ranch-style features. As a family man, the 30-year-old quarterback made sure to add recreational features, including an indoor basketball court and a home theater. The living room is fitted with a large fireplace. There is also a large trophy case that Mahomes hopes to continue to fill.

Michael Strahan's Brentwood mansion

If you've turned on your TV in the last 30 years, you probably recognize Michael Strahan. The New York Giants defensive end played from 1993 to 2007 and helped take his team to victory in Super Bowl XLII. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. During his time with the NFL, his warm smile and signature tooth gap lit up numerous commercial spots. After his retirement from professional sports, he moved on to host shows like "Live! With Kelly and Michael" and "Good Morning America." He's spent his earnings from his time with the New York Giants and subsequent media career on several high-end properties, including a Brentwood mansion that he sold in 2015 for $21.5 million.

The Neo-Colonial mansion offered nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. When he purchased it in 2013, Strahan paid $16 million for the property. As a family man, he wanted a home with ample entertainment features, which included a 20-seat theater and a game room. The 15,600-square-foot home also had a cigar lounge and a Prohibition-style wine cellar. On the property, there was a heated swimming pool, a spa, and an outdoor kitchen. There was also plenty of deck space for people to enjoy outdoor dinners.

Tom Brady's Billionaire Bunker home

After 23 seasons with the NFL, which included 10 Super Bowl appearances and seven wins, Tom Brady secured a legacy as the most successful quarterback in NFL history. As the primary starter, Brady helped build and sustain the New England Patriot dynasty for 18 seasons alongside head coach Bill Belichick, owner Robert Kraft, and — later on — receiver Rob Gronkowski. His last Super Bowl victory was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. Brady retired in 2022, having earned hundreds of millions through his contracts with the NFL, endorsements, and other business ventures. The 48-year-old has made multiple real estate investments throughout his career, but perhaps the most impressive is his home on Indian Creek, a man-made barrier island just off the coast of Miami Beach.

Brady and then-wife Gisele Bündchen purchased the property in 2020 for $17 million. The couple demolished the existing home and immediately began replacing it with a five-bedroom, 5,700-square-foot home designed by acclaimed architect Scott Mitchell. The couple divorced in 2022, and the house was not completed until 2024. Brady has since posted photos from the modernist-style home, showing off the backyard pool, floor-to-ceiling living room windows, and views of the sun glinting off the creek. He is now looking to sell the home for upward of $150 million. Nicknamed the "Billionaire Bunker," Indian Creek's other prominent residents include Jeff Bezos, Jared Kushner, and former Philadelphia Eagles owner Norman Braman.

LaDainian Tomlinson's Texas home

LaDainian Tomlinson retired from the league in 2011 after playing nine seasons with the San Diego Chargers and two with the New York Jets. Although he never played in a Super Bowl, he is celebrated as one of the best running backs in NFL history. He was voted the NFL Most Valuable Player in 2006 and was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017. Tomlinson now lives in Texas with his family in a multi-million-dollar mansion that resembles an Austrian castle.

The Chargers YouTube channel posted Tomlinson's house tour, where the retired running back shows off a grand piano in the home's entrance and a view of a backyard fountain — he says it was inspired by the Oliver Stone film, "Scarface." He spends a lot of time in the living room with his family and watching films in his home theater, which is filled with memorabilia, including the jersey of his hero, fellow Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders. His other passions are represented throughout the home as well. For instance, he likes to show off the Cuban cigars that he keeps in his lounge. He also enjoys smoking meats and grilling steaks on the patio while his guests and relatives float by on his backyard lazy river. His garages have multiple cars, including a Range Rover, a Lamborghini, and a Bentley.

Aaron Rodgers' Wisconsin home

This four-time MVP started out with the Green Bay Packers as a second-stringer for three seasons before Brett Favre moved on to the New York Jets. Rodgers' 2008 starting season, in which the team had a 6-10 record and he threw 11 interceptions, made for a tough transition. In 2011, however, he took the team to the Super Bowl, facing off against the Pittsburgh Steelers and winning the championship. He is now playing his 21st season in the league after moving on to the Jets like his Green Bay predecessor, and then to the Steelers. He has bought and sold various properties throughout his career, including a California mansion. Even after he left the Packers in 2023, he continued to hold onto his home in Oneida, Wisconsin, for a couple of years.

In November 2025, the New York Post reported that Rodgers had put his home on the market for $3.7 million. Just 20 minutes from the iconic Lambeau Field, the home offered safe harbor for the quarterback after victories and losses alike. Rodgers purchased the stone house, which was built in 2003, for $1.7 million in 2015. The 10,500-square-foot home has a library, a bar, a billiards room, an arcade, a movie theater, and a gym. The grounds include a greenhouse, a tennis court, and a patio.

Odell Beckham Jr.'s Ohio mansion

Odell Beckham Jr. began his career in 2014 with the New York Giants and quickly rose to prominence as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, even winning the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In 2020, he tore his ACL while playing with the Cleveland Browns, and he tore it again in 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams while victoriously facing off against the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. The NFL suspended him from the Miami Dolphins during the 2025 offseason for alleged PED use, and he is now a free agent. Although bad fortune has haunted his career, Beckham has still racked up stellar achievements, including three Pro Bowl selections. He has spent millions on some enviable real estate, including a 14,000-square-foot Ohio mansion.

Beckham purchased the property in 2019 for $1.6 million, and he put the home on the market for $3.3 million in April 2022. The New Traditional-style home was designed for entertaining and, like many ritzy homes, includes a home movie theater. The basement has a barber's chair, a lounge, a golf simulator, and a bar. There is also a colorfully lit sneaker room with floor-to-ceiling shelves. The main bedroom has a fireplace and a large bathroom with a spa tub and a steam shower. The gourmet kitchen has copper ceilings and high-end appliances, and there is also a swimming pool with a water slide. The property was sold in June 2022.

Gardner Minshew's converted prison bus

Unlike the other players on this list, Gardner Minshew is still trying to build a name for himself in the NFL. Although he's been in the league since 2019, he first became a starter while signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. He then moved to the Raiders, where he was released because of an injury, and he is now a backup for the Kansas City Chiefs. For a man who keeps on the move, it's only fitting that he has converted a prison bus into a state-of-the-art camper. For a multi-millionaire, this home is "insane" in the classic sense of the word.

Minshew's fixation on mobile living first became a story during the 2022 off-season. He pulled into his trainer's gym parking lot in the bus, where he would live for the following five months. This allowed him to eat, sleep, and work out all in one place. He designed the home on wheels himself using an old inmate transfer bus. Minshew, who sports a retro mustache, made sure to project his own personal style onto the bus, which included a lava lamp, an orange couch with shag pillows, and walls lined with vinyl records from the 1960s and '70s. Once he returned to his Philly training camp, he put the bus up for sale for $25,000. If you're thinking about embarking on a project like this yourself, it usually cost anywhere from a few thousand bucks to well over a hundred thousand dollars to convert a van into a tiny home
