Couple Is Living Their Dream In The Most Eccentric Tiny Home

Tiny homes aren't a new concept, but have you ever wondered what motivates some people to live in one? One couple, Chloe Barcelou and Brandon Batchelder, shared their tiny home story on TikTok, not only letting people know what their motivation was, but also the overall benefits of this type of living. Plus, they created an eccentric home filled with whimsy and delight.

The tiny house movement has been growing throughout the 20th century, with the 2008 housing crisis becoming another major catalyst. While some people may scoff at the idea of cramming themselves into a home that's only around 400 square feet, Chloe and Brandon's TikTok journey of their tiny home building and living process shows that you don't have to be a minimalist to enjoy and succeed at tiny living.

What makes their tiny home eccentric isn't that they built it themselves, but what the home looks like both on the outside and the inside. From the outside, you may think you're walking into a Renaissance Faire, with the steampunk, pirate, and boho vibes of this black-and-gold home, featuring a wheel that looks like it could have come from a pirate ship (and it serves a unique purpose in the home). When you step inside, the bohemian aesthetic transitions into a maximalist vibe that makes you feel as if you've entered a full-sized home. This is a tiny house that is incredibly charming, and everything about this home is eccentric, from the time invested in its creation to the finished product.

A tour of their eclectic tiny home and building process

While it's been a decades-long project, the couple's tiny home is a labor of love that lets them live the life they want. If you think 10 years is a long time to work on a tiny home, the planning process alone can take months, and then getting all of the materials you need takes time, on top of actually building the home from scratch. While you can buy prefab kits, if you want something that's truly your own creation, it will take longer.

Inside, Chloe and Brandon's home is like walking into an eclectic space, filled to the gills with maximalist dreams. The home allows the couple space to work, create, and live. There are plenty of storage spaces utilizing many tiny-home hacks to maximize small spaces, so they have everything they need, just like in a larger home. From whimsical chandeliers to bright colors, this home feels like something straight out of "Alice in Wonderland."

Chloe and Brandon were looking for an escape from the never-ending bills and the lack of time that comes with a "normal" life. They wanted to find out for themselves if living in a tiny house was really cheaper. They wanted to live on their own terms, and with some leftover wood from a previous project, the help of kind folks, free items they found, and bargains at the thrift store, they started creating their dream tiny home.
