The whimsical home decor trend isn't going anywhere, and this budget DIY is proof. If any surface in your home is looking lackluster, consider a lotus-inspired lamp. There are tons of fairy garden ideas that are downright magical, but you can also incorporate "fairycore" into your interior. The inside of your home should feel just as enchanting as the outside. All you need to start this cute piece of tabletop decor are pipe cleaners, glue, and lights like these Ariceleo LED Fairy Lights.
Content creator @warmplacee__ demonstrated this DIY with light blue and turquoise pipe cleaners, but you can use any colors of your choice. This craft also looks beautiful with a combination of baby pink and hot pink pipe cleaners, or lavender and dark purple. This selection of Caydo 200 Thick Pipe Cleaners offers several color options to try. The key is to create visual variation between a darker and a lighter tone for the different tiers of petals. This is a great DIY if you want to give your home a botanical touch but you aren't able to display live greenery and florals. It's low-maintenance, customizable, and ideal for those who love storybook style.
How to DIY this stunning lotus light craft
You'll need to make a total of six large petals, six medium petals, and four small petals for this lamp. Create the shapes by bending four pipe cleaners in half and threading one pipe cleaner through the crease, pointing its ends in the opposite direction. Then, twist the center where the pipe cleaners connect and bend all the ends downward to create a single top point. Finally, take the bottom of one of the outside pipe cleaners and wrap it around the ends of the others pipe cleaners to create the bottom point. This will result in a beautiful petal shape.
To create the center of your lotus flower, twist a pipe cleaner into a circular spiral. Glue your large petals first around the center, then the medium ones, but leave the four smallest petals to the side. Next, identify where each little bulb is located on the fairy light, and bend the wire in half so that the bulb is at the tip. Each light on the string should be positioned this way to mimic the stamens of the lotus. Glue your cluster of lights directly to the center of the flower before surrounding them with the four remaining petals.
You can display these fairycore lotus lamps among your collection of fantasy novels as a trendy way to style bookshelf decor. Further, if you've fallen in love with the lotus look, try your hand at another botanical-inspired craft by turning candle tin scraps into stunning DIY flower decor.
