Everyone Will Be Buying Dollar Tree Wood Pallets For This Unique DIY
Imagine you're sitting outside on your pallet furniture, looking over all of your DIYs made with the same materials. Everything looks cohesive and functional. But, as the sun sets, you realize that you need a light to make your space usable at night. Sure, you could buy any old outdoor light, but why not keep the trend going with a small, rustic lamp made from the same material you're sitting on — pallet wood?
DIYs using pallets have been all the rage recently, and it makes sense. After all, affordable wood pallet furniture DIYS are easy to make and customize to fit your needs. But, did you know that Dollar Tree sells tiny miniature pallets? You can use these for a variety of craft projects and get the same benefits of full-sized ones, but for smaller home and yard decorations. The first step to making your rustic outdoor lamp is to stop at Dollar Tree to buy some of these pallets, then follow this simple DIY by @hometalk on TikTok.
The most important items you'll need are two Crafter's Square wood pallets, some floral garden cotton nautical rope, battery-powered lights like the Dollar Tree LED push light or fairy string lights, and a small mason jar. You'll be using the pallets made up of a single layer of horizontal planks and supports, instead of the double-layered ones which come along in the assorted pack. You'll also need some items to decorate, as well. In the video, @hometalk used sand, white flowers, seashells, and a starfish, for a beachy-themed lantern, but you can go with anything you want, including figurines, paints, or even stickers. In addition to the decorative elements, you will need a hot glue gun to attach everything.
Turning your mini pallets into a charming light-up decoratoin
Once you've acquired all of your items, you have to put the lantern together. To start, glue your Dollar Tree pallets in a vertical layout to create one longer, rectangular board. When your pallets are dry, take your rope and use it to attach the jar by hooking it just under the lip where the jar is narrowest. For extra stability, glue the rope in place. You can also hook it around the pallets so it can double as a way to hang your decor when you are done. You won't need the lid of your jar, but thankfully, you can make use of extra jar lids with an adorable wall decor DIY. Add in the lights, and then decorate to your heart's content.
Though @hometalk goes for a beach theme, you can choose any other theme or design you want. Spruce up your pallets with a bit of paint or colorful paper and Mod Podge, or use a bit of food coloring and your oven to make the jar turn a completely different color with this faux-vintage glass DIY. Even a few stickers can add to the design and give it a unique look that is your own. Once you are done decorating, you will have a unique DIY that everyone will be rushing to Dollar Tree to recreate.
