Turn A Plastic Water Bottle Into The Cutest Mini Hanging Basket

Spring has sprung, and it's time to find decor ideas to get your home ready. After a long winter, you might be itching to add a pop of color back into your life. With the sun's return, now is the time to add some decor that adds both color and warmth to your space. Perhaps the best way to welcome the season is with a bright and fun craft. Without breaking the bank, you can turn an old water bottle into the cutest decorative basket.

Baskets can always be used for stylish storage, making them functional and cute. While a mini basket is more decorative since it cannot hold as much, it can still help you organize your smaller items. Whether that's loose coins or jewelry, this decorative basket can still offer a light spring cleaning, helping you declutter your space. If functionality is not your priority, this adorable diy basket can always just be decorative since it's made to be cute and vibrant. It's the perfect craft to ring in a new season.

Crafting a mini hanging basket

For this craft, all you need is a water bottle, something to cut it with, a metal wire, glue, yarn, and your imagination. Double-sided tape might make this process more seamless, but some glue and patience should work just as well.

First, you're going to cut off the bottom third of the water bottle (this is the part you'll be using), leaving only the basket-shaped cup. You'll take your basket and stick double-sided tape or glue vertically around the sides. Next, you'll take yarn (any color you like) and slowly wrap it around the basket, layer by layer, until it's covered. When you reach the top of the basket, add a layer of braided yarn around the rim. Now, you'll make the handle. Bend the metal wire into a U shape and wrap it with the same yarn or a complementary color. Place the covered wire onto the basket and glue the sides down.

Your basket is structurally complete, but you can decorate it however you like. Add tiny pearls, flowers, or glitter. Fill your basket with tiny flowers, mini eggs, or your favorite trinkets to complete the look. You can make one basket or several and use them as centerpieces. You can even plant a baby succulent inside and gift it to a loved one. The possibilities are as vast as your imagination. You can even recreate the craft on a larger scale and turn a plastic bottle into storage bins in your home.
