Costco's Epic July Deals On Grills For All Your Outdoor Cooking Needs

If your cleaning and preparation steps for your grill just aren't having the same effect they once did because of the unit's age, it may be time to purchase a new one before too much more of summer fades away. Costco is offering several grills with price discounts heading into June and July that let you save some money while enjoying a new grill.

Costco is offering immediate savings on some of its grills this summer, such as $150 off a Weber gas grill or $150 off a Pit Boss wood pellet grill. (Because the immediate savings are only available for a limited time, pay attention to the unique ending date for each product.) For additional savings, some grills qualify for the Costco Direct program, which offers a discount when you purchase multiple qualifying products online. You can save an additional $100 when you buy two qualifying items and $200 when you buy three items, for example. Even if you're not interested in purchasing two grills from Costco, you can bundle a new grill with any other Costco Direct product, such as patio furniture, an outdoor storage box, or a deck umbrella, and still receive the discount.

Costco is a membership warehouse retailer known for saving its members money on many kinds of big-ticket items, both in store and online. You can buy many kitchen essentials at Costco for both indoor and outdoor cooking environments without breaking the bank. 

Sometimes when you're competing with the neighbors for the best grilling setup, bigger is not only better; it's also a necessity. Costco is offering the Kirkland Signature Stone Island 12-Burner Gas Grill for $4,000 this summer. This grill doesn't have any limited-time discounts associated with it, but it is eligible for Costco Direct savings. Delivery is free, and you can do DIY assembly or pay extra for assembly.

About 86% of customer reviewers at the Costco website give the Weber grill four or five stars. Only about 6% of reviewers give it one or two stars. One customer reviewer called it a "state-of-the-art barbecue," thanks to features like the sear zone. Others love the stylish stainless steel design. Many reviewers said it excels in cooking different kinds of food. Most of the negative reviews discussed assembly challenges, either when hiring a professional or doing DIY work.

If you get frustrated when using cheap grills because of inaccurate temperatures or uneven cooking, the Ninja FlexFlame Outdoor Cooking System ($1,050 on sale at Costco) eliminates these issues. You can set a precise temperature from 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit while cooking, hopefully giving you better results. You can use the versatile Ninja unit as a traditional grill, smoker, roaster, griddle, or pizza oven. It operates on wood pellets and propane. Costco is offering $200 instant savings through early July on this unit, and it's also a Costco Direct-qualifying product.

One Costco customer reviewer appreciates the versatility in cooking options with this Ninja product, making everything from burgers to ribs. "Considering we don't have a lot of space on our back deck, the FlexFlame is perfect, as it gives us a grill, griddle, smoker, and pizza oven, all in a small footprint." One of the negative reviews mentioned that the grill works well, but it sometimes automatically shuts itself off in the middle of cooking for unknown reasons. It only has 424 square inches of cooking space, which makes it an average-sized grill, despite a four-figure price tag.

People who like the idea of being able to grill and also smoke meat in one unit swear by the versatility of a wood pellet grill. However, pellet grills can be pricey compared to charcoal and gas grills. Costco is offering a $150 instant discount on the Pit Boss Heritage Wood Pellet Grill (now $850) through mid-July. It's also eligible for Costco Direct savings. The Pit Boss grill has 1,093 square inches of cooking space and offers a 30-pound capacity in the pellet hopper.

Many people left positive customer reviews on the Costco website. One reviewer has owned several grills over many years. "I can honestly say, this is the best one yet," the reviewer said. "It doesn't hurt that it's a beautiful unit." Another reviewer said smoking delicious ribs was easier than expected, thanks in part to the smartphone app included with the Pit Boss grill that allowed constant monitoring of the temperature. However, a few other reviewers said the app was glitchy. A couple of reviewers had a bad experience, as the grill caught fire while using it.

If you need a small grill for camping or when you're only cooking for one or two people, Costco has a wood pellet model available that you can take anywhere. Costco is offering a $70 discount on the Traeger Trailhead Portable Pellet Grill, giving it a price of $350 through early July. (This model is not a Costco Direct-eligible product and is only available online.)

The grill includes a power inverter that lets you operate it from your vehicle's battery, if needed. It uses wood pellets as the fuel, and you can set the temperature in increments of 5 degrees for precise cooking.

Many customer reviewers who left positive comments on the Costco website said the unit is extremely easy to use and clean. "Great buy," one reviewer said. "Perfect for our travel trailer; great steaks on the go." One negative customer review said that the weight of the unit (52 pounds) made it difficult to transport for camping, causing the reviewer to return the product. This portable Traeger grill probably won't meet the needs of bigger families, as it only offers 176 square inches of grilling space.
