If you're a fan of secondhand shopping, then you already know that there are a lot of vintage and antique dishware brands you would be thrilled to find. One of those brands is Pyrex, and there are a lot of pieces, colors, and patterns that have been released since the brand was first introduced in 1915. One rare Pyrex bowl that'll add a pop of color in your kitchen and would be an amazing score at the thrift store is the Delphite Blue, also known as "Bluebelle," which was released as a set of mixing bowls. 

The original Delphite Bluebelle mixing bowls were produced between 1960 and '62. These bowls came in a light, milky blue shade that actually went from a baby blue to a light steel-gray blue color, depending on the size of the mixing bowl. These bowls were able to nest together with the darker shade of blue being on the smallest size bowl and the larger size is a lighter color, creating an ombre effect when the mixing bowls are placed together. For the actual sizes of these mixing bowls, 401 in a 1.5 pint size is the smallest, the medium is number 402 and measures 1.5 quarts, and finally there is bowl 403 coming in at 2.5 quarts. The rarest of the set is the 404, which is a 4-quart bowl.

The Delphite Bluebelle mixing bowls are part of the Pyrex solid color collection, which means that no white is seen on these bowls, inside or out. There are no patterns on these bowls, making them a more neutral addition to one's vintage collection.

The Delphite Bluebelle Pyrex bowls are rare finds that you may want to add to your kitchen because of their versatility and classic style. If you come across even one of these bowls in a secondhand shop, they can definitely be a solid pickup if they are in good condition without any cracks, chips, or crazing, although the largest size is the real gem. On Etsy, you can find a set of bowls listed for $375, while over on eBay a three-piece set sold for $239.99. Even a single bowl from the set is worth picking up since the smallest bowl is listed for around $45 on eBay. 

However, the rarest bowl is the 404, 4-quart size and it's said that it's previously sold on eBay for over $1000. It's reportedly been seen listed on eBay as high as $3000. The 4-quart mixing bowl is rarely even included with the other three bowls, so that makes it an even more exciting pickup if you're able to find the largest of the Delphite Bluebelle mixing bowls.

When shopping for these Pyrex mixing bowls, you will want to look on the bottom to find the makers mark and other identifying markings. The bottom of these bowls will typically say "Made in U.S.A.," although there were some that were made and distributed as a promotional offering in Canada. Other markings on the bottom of these bowls include the Pyrex trademark in all capital letters, as well as the number and size of the bowl. Underneath all of that information will also be a mark that says that these bowls are "ovenware."
