If you're planning to refurbish your wood furniture or to perform similar delicate finishing tasks, properly sanding and smoothing the material is an important step in creating a beautiful piece that's meant to last. Sanding by hand on a piece of wood can cause fatigue and injury, however, because of repetitive movements. To deploy the discs, use the hook-and-loop backing to attach them to the round base. Then, attach the base to the shank, which you'll insert in your power drill's chuck. Operate the drill as you normally would, and the spinning motion will smooth the wood with minimal manual effort on your part. If you're planning to sand your deck or refinish your floors, note that the kit is too small for such a large area. (You'll probably need a belt sander.) The kit includes 100 3-inch sanding discs with different grit levels between 80 and 3,000. The 80-grit discs are considered medium grits that help with preparing rough wood for finishing. Discs with 1,000-grit ratings and higher are made for ultra-fine work. Because the sanding discs fit onto a drill, you can work in tighter spaces than you could with a larger orbital or belt sander. Even a palm-sized orbital sander is several inches wide, long, and tall. Per one verified reviewer, who gave the kit five stars, "I bought this to use on some auto body [work] for small areas that needed a little attention. [I] wasn't disappointed." It's better for craft-related work or precise woodworking tasks, rather than for large, heavy-duty jobs, though, another reviewer said.

One Amazon reviewer had success removing paint from wood with these discs. "The [sandpaper] is decent and sands quite a bit of paint off before it gets clumped on the paper," shared the reviewer, who gave the product four stars. Another buyer, who also used the sander for their car, titled their five-star review "Works great," but also said, "make sure to have a strong drill." One customer used the 150-grit disc to "sand the inside of my trailer brake drums. ... I didn't really expect the quality that I got. I'm quite impressed."

As some of these reviews show, you don't have to limit yourself to working with wood with the Tshya product.
