Turn Old Frying Pans Into A Space-Saving Alternative For Bathroom Counter Storage

Think twice before throwing away those old worn-down frying pans. You can give them a new look and a new purpose as part of a simple yet savvy DIY project that will leave you with a little more countertop storage space. This unconventional storage system is surprisingly stylish, too. To build it, you will need to remove the handles from two frying pans, paint the pans, and wrap the outside of them with jute rope. You will then attach one end of a long wooden dowel to the inside of one pan and stack the other pan on top of the wooden dowel at the other end. This will create a two-tier storage system for your bathroom that rivals store-bought options.

You can get creative and really make this DIY project your own by customizing it. Select your preferred paint color and add additional detailing if you'd like. When you're done, set the storage system on your bathroom countertop and put it to use. Place items like cosmetics or personal care products inside the two storage tiers rather than leaving them scattered across your counters. This storage solution really does it all. It will help you get extra use out of old frying pans and declutter your bathroom countertops. What more could you ask for?

To start out, you will need to unscrew the handles to remove them from both of your frying pans. On some pans, this leaves behind the small metal bracket that the handle was attached to. You can get rid of these by cutting them off with a small handheld saw. Next, coat the inside of the pans with white acrylic paint using a paint sponge. This will give the next layer of decorative paint a blank base to layer over smoothly. After that layer of white paint dries, cover the inside of the pans with your preferred paint color.

Although the content creator in the video above used gold spray paint, feel free to use whatever color best complements your bathroom color scheme. You can then seal the dried paint with a spray sealant like the clear Painter's Touch 2X Spray for faster, easier application. After the paint dries, glue jute cord onto the back of the pans with a hot glue gun for an earthy rustic look. Alternatively, you could opt for the Teceum Cotton Rope in a bold color of your choice.

If one of your pans is larger than the other, you'll want it to form the base of your new storage system. To begin assembly, drill holes into the center of your pans and insert long screws as shown in the video. You can then add screw holes to a long wooden dowel and attach it to the screws in between the pans. The Meccanixity Wooden Dowel Rods would work perfectly here. You can then cover the screw on the top pan by gluing a decorative wooden knob, ball, finial, or figurine over it. Lastly, add any other details you'd like and use your new storage system to organize your bathroom.
