Turn A Wire Hanging Planter From Dollar Tree Into Something Much More Special

If you're carefully watching your spending, you likely shop at Dollar Tree for your gardening tools and supplies. The trouble is, the pots and planters the store sells are often quite plain. They're far from luxe and don't usually fit the design aesthetic of most modern backyards. However, just as you can turn a few Dollar Tree items into an upcycled bird feeder and bath combo, you can transform this basket into something a little more appealing. The creator used white poly rope for her hanging basket, but you could use any color you wish. In fact, you may want to select a shade that matches your existing outdoor decor or complements the flower color of whatever plant you want to grow in the hanging basket. Right now, Dollar Tree has 50-foot bundles of Tool Bench Poly Rope in sunshine yellow or black for $1.50. If you don't like either of those colors, purchase some Perkhomy Polyester Rope, which comes in lengths of 90, 100, or 150 feet, depending on the color you choose. You should only need around 50 feet of rope for a single planter. While you're at Dollar Tree, grab a Round Coconut Basket for $1.50 and have your glue gun handy for securing the ends of the rope to the basket.

Gather all your supplies in one spot, then unravel the rope. Tie one end of the rope to one of the wire ribs at the base of the hanging basket, securing it in place with a dot of hot glue. Start weaving the rope in and out of the ribs, working your way around and up the walls of the hanging basket one row at a time. Pull the rows of rope tightly against each other to cover the wire ribs completely. When you get to the top of the hanging basket, wrap the rope around the rim to hide the wire. Tie the end to the rim and secure it in place with hot glue.
