The Best Celeb Houses In Los Angeles County

To those of us who dutifully read celebrity news and watch reality television shows, it seems like every star has chosen to make Los Angeles County their home. The county has popular destination cities like Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Hidden Hills, and Calabasas, and according to Nimvo, those fans are right. Los Angeles is the most popular place in the country for celebrities to reside simply because it's where the action is.

As many television, movie, and recording studios are in Los Angeles, it all comes down to location for these stars. That also extends to neighbors. As more celebrities live in the city and county at large, it makes even more sense for them to stay here. Collaboration, networking, and simply socializing are that much easier when every star is just a short drive away. And, of course, it's also just a beautiful place to be, since it has the sunniest days and mildest weather in the country. Here are just a few of the best celebrity mansions throughout Los Angeles County.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's Brentwood home with a koi moat

When (arguably) the greatest quarterback of all time and the most iconic Victoria's Secret model buy a house, you know it's not going to be modest. And it wasn't — Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's former French chateau-style mansion in Brentwood couldn't be more star-worthy with its whopping 14,000 square feet, koi moat, and Pacific Ocean views, reported Architectural Digest. The family of five built the home with the help of architect Richard Landry in 2009 and sold it about five years later to rapper Dr. Dre for $40 million (via The Los Angeles Times). However, even that was $10 million less than Brady and Bundchen's initial market price.

Despite the home's huge price tag, it still has a coziness that isn't often found in typical modern California pads. That comes from home features such as exposed wood beams, seven fireplaces spread throughout the property, neutral colors, and antique décor. And even though the estate has a huge footprint with four acres, it's also eco-friendly. Bundchen and Brady wanted to ensure that their pad was ecological, so they implemented elements such as solar panels, huge vegetable gardens, and a chicken coop for all of the family's eggs.

Steven Spielberg's Malibu getaway with star-studded neighbors

You can bet that the guy who made timeless films like "Jurassic Park," "Indiana Jones," and "Jaws" has more than one amazing house. But Steven Spielberg's former Malibu house, which sold for $26 million in 2015, per The Los Angeles Times, was a real estate force to be reckoned with. Through its more than 7,000 square feet with direct beachfront access, it features nine bedrooms, several terraces for California sunshine, and a two-bedroom guesthouse if those nine bedrooms aren't enough (via Velvet Ropes). But its real highlight, in Spielberg fashion, was a luxe theater room. The home also has a pool, a lush backyard leading to the beach, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a massage room.

Before Spielberg offloaded the 1.5-acre property, he hosted seasonal summer renters for $150,000 per month. Those renters were in good company — nearby neighbors included celebrities like Pierce Brosnan, Ray Romano, and Dustin Hoffman. Then, a real estate maven with several other California properties purchased the craftsman-style pad from Spielberg. It certainly didn't leave the director homeless — he has other properties in Los Angeles, the Hamptons, and Florida.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's Beverly Hills mansion with Southeast Asian vibes

After Chrissy Teigen announced her pregnancy in August of 2020, the social media maven and her husband, musician John Legend, set their sights on a new home in Los Angeles to accommodate their would-be family of five. The couple's modern, 8,500 square foot Beverly Hills pad hit the market for $24 million, reported Robb Report. After Teigen tragically lost the pregnancy a few months later, the couple still decided to continue with their search for a new home, and nearly a year later, their then-house sold for just a fraction of its asking price at nearly $17 million.

The buyer got quite the deal on the stunning home, which features an eye-catching black façade as well as touches from Teigen's own Southeast Asian culture (via Architectural Digest). With those additions, which include wood ceilings made in Thailand as well as an upscale boho color scheme, Teigen and Legend renovated the entire property that dates back more than 50 years. They implemented luxe features like doors entirely made of brass, a marble tub imported from Italy, 33-foot ceilings, oak floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows. And, as fans of Teigen's "Cravings" cookbook and cookware line can guess, the kitchen also has state-of-the-art touches like a mix of textures, gray and beige colors, marble counters, and brass hardware.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's Hollywood Hills paradise with tons of outdoor perks

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel clearly aren't hurting for profits in their day jobs. Still, they're likely about to make a big real estate profit when they sell their Mediterranean mansion in Hollywood Hills for almost $28 million more than they paid for it, per Dirt. They listed the nearly century-old nine-bedroom home for $35 million in October of 2021, and if it sells, it'll be record-setting for the Hills (via The Los Angeles Times). Unlike some other nearby Los Angeles neighborhoods, homes in the Hollywood Hills don't usually sell quite so high. The only ones that have done so within the past few years were an abode featured on "Selling Sunset" and another mansion in the famed Bird Streets.

However, the star-studded pad isn't exactly as it was when the power couple bought it in 2000 from actress Helen Hunt. While Biel and Timberlake lived here, they gave it a total revamp by completely updating its décor to a modern-chic aesthetic and implementing an infinity pool. There's also an outdoor living area primed for ideal California weather on the estate's 13,500 square feet property, which is privately situated at the end of a cul-de-sac and surrounded by ten acres of lush foliage. It has stunning views, a tennis court, and a guesthouse for visitors. Inside, there's a fitness center, private movie theater, chef's kitchen, and four fireplaces to bring cozy vibes to the modern pad.

Kim Kardashian's minimalist, monastery-esque Hidden Hills respite

We all thought that reality star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian had found her perfect match in rapper Kanye West when they wed in 2014. However, even though the couple's marriage lasted seven years, they parted ways in 2021. They left behind, among other things, a Hidden Hills home that they bought for $20 million, per the New York Post. But that price is a far cry from the $60 million that the minimal mansion is now worth. Since the separation, Kardashian paid West $23 million, making the home solely hers (via LoveProperty). It's good news for the entire Kardashian clan, as both mom Kris Jenner and sister Kourtney Kardashian live nearby.

Kardashian and West purchased their family home the same year they tied the knot, but renovated the colossal property for three years before moving in. They shocked fans by creating a super-minimal home with white and beige tones, almost no furniture, arched hallways reminiscent of a monastery, no décor on the walls, and bathrooms with no sink basins. Coincidentally, the home's vibe seems to extend to Kardashian and West's individual clothing styles, as is evident through their spartan clothing brands.

Halle Berry's cozy Malibu paradise with a rooftop deck

After starring in blockbusters like "John Wick," "Monster's Ball," and "X-Men," it's no surprise Halle Berry has a beautiful Malibu mansion that she bought for $8 million in 2004. She bought the home — which faces California beaches — right after it had been renovated by its previous owners, leaving Berry and her two kids with one luxury abode, reported Closer Weekly. Here, the Berry clan enjoys amenities like floor-to-ceiling windows for a birds-eye-view of the ocean, three separate patios (including one on the roof) ideal for entertaining, and lush greenery for optimal privacy.

Inside, Berry has opted for simplicity, outfitting her home with plush furniture, beige tones, and hardwood floors. However, there are some celebrity touches in this three-bedroom beachside dream. Berry's home has chic pops of colors throughout the white details, an elevator to easily traipse all three floors, and a hot tub on one of the patios, according to Los Angeles Homes.

Julia Roberts' Malibu investment beach bungalow

With a husband she's been married to for nearly two decades and three kids, family and privacy are important to Julia Roberts. That's why she resides in Malibu rather than bustling Hollywood, per Velvet Ropes. Until 2016, she had two homes in the beachfront celebrity hotspot, but it seems as though one might have been an investment property, as Dirt says she likely never stayed at the four-bedroom bungalow. However, that doesn't mean it's not charming. It features exposed wood beam ceilings, a brick fireplace, large windows for tons of natural light, a lush and private yard, and a stone patio.

In 2016, she sold the home, which sits on little more than an acre, for $8 million. This means she made about a half-million profit from what she purchased it for. The good news is she didn't have to go very far to sign closing papers. Roberts' other home in Point Dume, which the family primarily resides in, is right across the street from their sold property. Financier and investor Thomas Laffont snatched up the bungalow, but the sale didn't mean Laffont was moving to the area for the first time. He also owns the neighboring ranch property, which he bought for $13 million, meaning that Laffont has 2.4 acres of Point Dume to his name.

Nicolas Cage's Malibu home that hit the market for $30 million

Nicolas Cage likely thought he got the deal of the century when he sold his 4,000 square foot cliffside Malibu mansion for $9.9 million, a $6.5 million profit. However, just a few years later, the then-buyer listed the three-bedroom stunner for a whopping $30 million, said Mansion Global. Located on the Pacific Coast Highway, the beachfront respite has the best of both worlds. It's easily accessible thanks to its proximity to the highway, but it's tucked away on an acre of land on a private side street protected by a gate. Nearby, other big celebrities once resided here, including Jennifer Lopez and Cindy Crawford.

The home also has tons of celeb-worthy amenities, like a colossal walk-in closet, cozy fireplaces, balconies with private beach views, and a pool area with its own bathroom, television, and outdoor kitchen. And, while the beach is close, the home makes it seem so much closer. Floor-to-ceiling windows create seamless indoor/outdoor living, which is a huge draw for California residents. The pool also helps to fetch the eight-figure price tag. These days, building codes prevent pools from being built on these Malibu bluffs, but luckily for the new owner, this property's pool was installed long before that.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's stately Spanish-style Beverly Hills mansion

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill may seem like they belong in Nashville, but the couple also had a six-bedroom Spanish-style estate in Beverly Hills that they sold in 2009 for nearly $10 million, reported Taste of Country. The estate had tons of wow-factors throughout its 11,000 square feet. This included a grand wraparound staircase visitors could immediately see upon entering the home, a huge master suite equipped with a personal fitness center, and a chef's kitchen with stainless steel and state-of-the-art appliances. It had a classy, stately style, with beige and white tones, intricate chandeliers, and wrought iron details. Outside, the estate got even more beautiful with its lush foliage, resort-like pool, and scenic views of the surrounding neighborhood.

Although the abode was beautiful, it didn't garner the nearly $15 million that McGraw and Hill initially asked for when they listed the plush pad in 2008, which was five years after they moved in (via Variety). They had originally bought it from Sylvester Stallone's first wife for more than $6 million. Still, after being there for a few years, they began to custom build a home in Nashville which they planned to move into following the sale of their Beverly Hills abode.

Sharon Stone's modern-elegant Beverly Hills pad that she's lived in for 30 years

Unlike the many celebrities who constantly trade off homes, Sharon Stone has lived in the same Beverly Hills mansion for nearly three decades. However, it isn't a blast from the past, either. Stone gave the entire property a revamp in 2018, giving the home's elegant style a modern makeover, according to Architectural Digest. White still covers the walls and ceilings, but standout touches give the space life, like gold crown molding, modern chandeliers, and funky furniture.

The focal point is two facing black sofas in the living room, set between a black mirror coffee table atop a plush rug. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow lots of light into this room, which has a bold maroon ceiling lined with gold trim. There's a cozy fireplace inside the master bedroom, which has an ultra-modern black table flanked by two fluffy chairs. Her black four-poster bed is adorned with a Givenchy custom pillow and has a silver sofa at its end. A "Secret Garden"-esque pool is lined with lots of greenery and orange florals outside. A patio on the second floor of the home overlooks it all, including an area where her three sons like to play.

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's Hollywood Hills modern farmhouse

Modern farmhouse style is all the rage, but no one seems to do it better than Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden. They live in a contemporary farmhouse fit for a king (and queen) that they purchased right before the onset of the pandemic in December 2019, according to Vogue Australia. They paid $20 million for the mansion, and thanks to its seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms, it offers more than enough space for anyone "stuck" at home. It also provides some star-worthy neighbors — the street is also home to residents like John Mayer, Gene Simmons, and Vin Diesel.

Diaz and Madden have been known for being private during the last few years, and their modern farmhouse hidden away on almost two acres of land reflects that. It's also protected by a 24/7 security team as well as a foreboding gate. But behind it, Diaz and Madden's nearly 10,000 square foot space couldn't be cozier. The master bedroom and much of the rest of the house have blonde wood floors. The bedroom also has a patio to overlook the entire property, as well as its own marble fireplace flanked by a seating area. And since we all know Madden has his own rivaling, impressive wardrobe, both stars have walk-in closets attached to the bedroom.

Rod Stewart's colorful Beverly Hills country estate

Beverly Hills is filled with modern white boxes that the stars call home, but that definitely can't be said for Rod Stewart's bright yellow country-style estate. Per Architectural Digest, it's flanked by a regal fountain, tons of greenery, and equally bright blue shutters. The one-of-a-kind space will make sense to any Stewart fan, who once wore zebra pants, an entirely gold ensemble, and a suit reminiscent of "Beetlejuice." The estate's 28,000 square feet are filled with Stewart's own collections, including French and Italian memorabilia from the 18th century, family photos that span decades, and Pre-Raphaelite paintings.

His living room also has the wow factor that a true country estate would bring. It's outfitted in ornate gold details with touches of leopard print, all headed by a white limestone fireplace surrounded by plush chairs. The floor-to-ceiling windows are draped in piles of patterned curtains. The dining room has an equally regal vibe, set atop a black-and-white tiled floor. Gold Roman statues line the walls, as do vintage paintings personally curated by Stewart. Stewart's pool looks like it's straight out of the French Riviera, and is a resort-style space that has been here since the '90s. It offers tons of lounge chairs, a hot tub, and is surrounded by bright pink florals.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's $42 million Calabasas paradise

Calabasas, one of the most exclusive areas of Los Angeles County, is home to only the biggest A-listers. Which of course is why Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith call this city home. They live in a $42 million estate that is worth every one of the seven years it took to build, with every decision approved by Smith himself, according to Velvet Ropes. With that in mind, don't think you'll find typical California touches here. Instead, Smith and Pinkett Smith's home is brimming with personality, starting with the carved front door imported from Northern India.

Inside the estate, the Smith family enjoys nine bedrooms and outside-the-box home features like a room entirely dedicated to meditating, a space with an indoor pool, a private cinema with Moroccan touches, and a recording studio frequented by daughter Willow Smith. It's all adorned with features inspired by African culture. However, the Smith family nearly lost their home in 2021, when a fire broke out here stemming from the basement. It forced the family to renovate home aspects like the basketball court, tennis court, and parts of the lower level of the space (via New York Post).
