Bing Crosby's Former Home Just Sold For $4 Million

Singer and actor Bing Crosbys' Rancho Mirage, California, home sold for $4.1 million after being on and off the market for over a decade, according to the New York Post. The "White Christmas" singer built his mid-century home deep in the desert of Coachella Valley in the 1950s. He was considered the country's first multimedia star, per Veranda, to have a home honor his legacy. Even the most popular celebrities and U.S. presidents vacationed in his home, such as Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford, per the New York Post.

The house resides on about 1.5 acres of land behind the ThungerbirdHeights gates with 24-hour manned security, the listing states. It holds the great history of Crosby and the success he had accomplished during his life with music and film. Enjoyable for the buyers, tech entrepreneur Wayne Butler and Garret Gray, per the New York Post, they're surrounded by the mountain views and the valley vistas.

Indoor and outdoor flow

The 6,700-square-foot home was designed with an indoor and outdoor flow that connects the backside of the house with an extended patio, per the listing. The Moroccan-inspired home revels in a clean open space with special attention to detail. The backyard is surrounded by tall palm trees and an evenly trimmed lawn. It has multiple fire pits scattered throughout, perfect for bonfire nights making s'mores. There's even a beautiful private rounded pool that serves as a spa and connects to the larger pool.

The kitchen is everything with stainless steel appliances, beautiful off-white cabinetry, plenty of storage space, and a granite countertop island with elegant hanging lights. The overextended patio is held up by stunning massive brown pillars along with the patio at the entrance of the home. There's a stunning red-tiled walkway from the driveway that leads to a double-door entrance. Just outside the entrance, there is a gong and a turtle statue for decoration.

Along with the outdoor amenities is a guest house which is referred to as the "JFK Wing" due to rumors about John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe staying in Bing Crosby's guest home, per Veranda. It's made up of two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full living room, and a kitchen.

Private fireplace

The indoor-outdoor flow was curated with having sliding doors in every part of the home and installing outdoor showers for the primary suite, the listing stated. The house has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, all designed to have dark wood furniture, their own couches, and a coffee table off to the side, along with gorgeous art on every wall. The primary suite has its own built-in fireplace along a granite wall displayed in front of a loveseat and king-size bed. Most of the bedrooms have carpet instead of dark wood floors and tile, and they have their own floor-to-ceiling sliding doors or windows.

The bathroom suite has a stunning emerald marble bathtub separate from the shower near the vanity with a mirror and window overlooking the gardens. There are sliding doors next to the tub that lead to the outdoor shower encased halfway by glass tiles and a sitting area. One of the other bathrooms has marble tile with beautiful dark gray marble countertops that match the cabinetry. A massive mirror covers half of the wall next to another glass-tiled door for the shower.

Open layout interior

The foyer has the most detailed layout of the home other than the living room since it has two large gold vases at the entrance across from a bright red wardrobe center that holds two gold lamps, according to the New York Post. One of the living rooms has a dark gray theme with a sectional couch resting on top of a black base. A brick wall with its own fireplace sits next to a pool table. The entire living space gets combined into one room that leads to the outdoor area where the kitchen and lounging chairs are.

Vases filled with plants sit in the corners of the space, mirrors are hung on almost every wall, and silver accent decor is scattered on the tabletops, per the listing. A granite countertop bar with red cushioned seats sits inside the home overlooking the dining area. The house even has its own movie theater with a large black cushioned sectional, an entertainment set that holds that tv, and soundproof walls.
