The Bathroom Tub Tile Idea That Is Trending All Over For 2025

The all-over marble trend is, well, all over the place now... everywhere from t-shirts to teacups. And while it's fine to be topped in marble and steeped in marble, in 2025, we expect it to finally land where it belongs: in more bathrooms. Bathed in marble, you might say. Before the wordplay could get more out of hand, we asked Artem Kropovinsky, interior designer and founder of Arsight Studio, an award-winning firm specializing in residential and commercial projects nationwide, to speak with House Digest exclusively about the trend.

"The all-over marble trend for bathroom tubs and showers is surely stunning," Kropovinsky said. "It's brought to us in a clean and sleek look that feels sophisticated and calming, almost like stepping into a private oasis. In larger bathrooms, where the marble can star without feeling overwhelming, it works particularly well."

Marble is uniquely suited for this role because of its refinement, natural variations, and overall character. It can define a bathroom as both a background and as the star of the show. "The great part about this trend is how cohesive it looks," Kropovinsky said. "The entire area is covered in marble, which adds the polished, high end feel."

All-over marble options

The distinctive veining of marble gives all varieties a common character, but there's a surprisingly large variety of marble out there. "Calacatta is especially popular now for its bold, natural veining in marble," interior designer Artem Kropovinsky told House Digest exclusively. "Beige or light taupe are also taking off with warmer tones that will never go out of style. These tones are much warmer than the cooler whites and grays that have ruled for years."

A field of taupe enveloping your bathroom is probably not what comes to mind when you think of marble tile, but that's probably just a function of evolving trends, or maybe a kind of recency bias. Ultimately, though, marble's timelessness is what makes it classic, and part of what makes all-over marble possible. "Marble has always been a classic option when applied tastefully," Kropovinsky said. "It's easy to see how these trends can change over time, so smart neutrals and simple patterns keep it feeling fresh for years." Marble tile doesn't go out of style, it just allows different varieties to be in style from time to time.

Downsides and alternatives

Of course, Calacatta marble is quite an investment, and marble itself is a comparatively high-maintenance and expensive way to cover every surface in a room. "Natural marble is one investment for both cost and maintenance," said designer Artem Kropovinsky when he spoke exclusively with House Digest. "It has to be sealed, otherwise it is going to experience stains and scratches, something which can be a deal breaker in regards to everyday use." So, even if Calacatta or another pricey marble is in your financial budget, it might not be in your time budget.

If the cost and maintenance are prohibitive for you, there's a way to kill these two birds with one stone: porcelain. "Porcelain marble alternatives are an ideal budget option," Kropovinsky said. "At a fraction of the price point, with much less maintenance, they offer the same visual effect." Indeed, Calacatta marble can cost two to 40 times what porcelain tiles cost, and at least a bit more than Calacatta quartz. And there are many more products and cleaners that are safe for porcelain than for marble. So sometimes it might make sense to hold a little money back for lighting, faucets, and that rain shower head you've been dreaming of. You wouldn't want all-in marble to be for all the marbles, after all.
