The DIY That Gives Dollar Tree Solar Lights A Floral Upgrade

Love decorating your home with flowers? Us too! In fact, we love it so much, we had to share this fun hack (which, surprisingly, doesn't include real flowers). This DIY involves essentially making a lighted floral display using metal flowers. Add Dollar Tree's solar lights as the flower center and a mirror as your stage, and you've got a budget-friendly outdoor lighting idea that works no matter what your style is.
It's easy, doesn't take more than a few minutes to recreate, and best of all, it's perfect for spicing up a boring porch or patio. You can make multiple and add them to your outdoor centerpiece, style them on your patio end table, or mount them on the wall. Either way, you'll want to take a trip to Dollar Tree to stock up on their solar-powered tea lights, thick round mirrors, and metal flower wall ornaments. Grab one of each item per floral piece you want to create. Can't find any metal flower plaques at your local DT? Use garden stakes, such as the Metal Flower Stakes or a Floral Metal Stake Bird Feeder and Bath, and snip off the stem instead. Other than that, keep some spray paint and a glue gun handy.
How to turn basic Dollar Tree solar table lamps into a floral feature
The first step is to prep the flowers. Heads up: they may not always be in a color that you like, but that's nothing a little spray painting can't fix. Pastels, like the Rust-Oleum Candy Pink Spray Paint or its mint equivalent, are guaranteed to deliver cheery spring vibes. Think bright hues (like turquoise) if you're decorating for the summer. Or maybe even stick with safe colors, such as white or gold, for a timeless look that works year-round. You can carefully paint the light's base, too, if you aren't a fan of the black finish. Yellow is an obvious choice in this scenario.
We could go on but you get it — the color options are plenty. Of course, you can also just leave everything as-is and skip straight to assembling. On that note, remove the lamp's glass shade, then glue the light right in the middle of the flower. Next, apply a generous amount of glue to the underside of the flower and stick it onto the mirror (or your chosen foundation). Feel free to swap it out for a wooden board or omit it entirely. Gently fluff out the petals, and voila!
