Inside John Legend And Chrissy Teigen's Listed NYC Twin Penthouse Apartment

Singer-songwriter John Legend and his model wife, Chrissy Teigen, married since 2013, found a buyer for their $18 million paired penthouses in the chic Nolita neighborhood of Manhattan, New York, as per the New York Post. The two celebrities bought the first, smaller apartment back in 2018 for $9 million and the second for $7.7 million two years later. Legend and Teigen had plans to combine the two penthouse apartments into one massive 6,164-square-foot duplex, but never got around to it as they spend most of their time on the West Coast. As Legend mentioned to The Wall Street Journal, "We're going to focus our home-building energy and renovation energy on what we're doing in L.A."

The penthouses are located at 374 Broome St. in the Brewster Carriage House which holds nine boutique condo units. It was first built in 1900, explains the listing from Douglas Elliman, but in 2012 a conversion was completed to give us the incredible condominium building we are taking a look inside of today.

A great room fit for royalty

When entering John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's apartment from the building's elevator, you first step into the sixth-floor apartment's 1,050-square-foot great room that includes a large gas fireplace and 12-foot ceilings adorned by several tall windows. The room is big enough for a few comfy couches and chairs, as well as a dining room table fit for eight, as seen on Zillow. What completes this room is the custom wine cellar located under the stairs at the entrance of the room.

Just west of the great room is one of the two kitchens in the penthouses which has been seriously revamped by the celebrity couple. It functions as an open concept kitchen upgraded with top-of-the-line Miele appliances and custom cabinetry, as noted by The Wall Street Journal. The island is also a new addition, featuring a white quartz countertop and a gas range. The other kitchen, on the fifth floor, is also adjacent to a living room. This kitchen utilizes more cabinets and pantry space to store food items and kitchen utensils. Similar to the upstairs kitchen, this one has a nearby eight-person dining room table, perfect for hosting.

Bedrooms with the bones for upsizing

The primary bedroom in John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's combined penthouse apartment, which may have been made larger during the combination of the two apartments, is already a show-stopping feature in this home with an ensuite bathroom and a comfortable walk-in closet. This bedroom is made complete by white oak flooring and an accent wall made from exposed brick, explains Architectural Digest. Plans for renovation include the addition of a fireplace and a skylight as well as an extension of the walk-in closet to make it a dressing room of about 120 square feet in size.

The other five bedrooms in the home are also oversized. All except two include their own walk-in closet and attached bathroom. They would be extremely comfortable if made into children's bedrooms or temporary guest suites. Finishing the renovation plans laid out in the listing from Douglas Elliman would increase the size of most of the rooms, giving them better access to the six bathrooms and one powder room included in the home. It would also allow tenants more space for unique design options.

An entertaining rooftop terrace

The interior of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen's penthouse apartments is so incredible, and you can expect the same on the outside. This property includes a large outdoor space functioning as a rooftop terrace that boasts more than 3,000 square feet, as per the New York Post. The terrace is professionally landscaped with lots of grass, hedges, bushes, and trees. Residents will rarely need to tend to the lush lawn as the home comes with a built-in custom irrigation system. The roof deck also includes an outdoor kitchenette that uses a gas grill, says SFGate.

This rooftop space looks like it's begging to be used for a girls' brunch, a summer party, or a romantic dinner date. With plenty of seating options and a great view of the Manhattan skyline, no matter which part of the huge private roof deck you choose to hang out on, you're sure to have an amazing time.
